What we've been doing lately
conker love

at the beach

berries galore at the local nature reserve

ooh, Daddy, there was fishes in there!

blackberry muffins (fruits of our labour) - I know it's a bad pun, but I like bad puns!

and finally.... last weekend at Lyme. We almost left them, but decided they were worth bringing home after all!

As promised, a crafty something
Well, I've finished Baby Nattie's present for Sunday, and as yesterday's posts were all about the cluckers, I thought you might like a crafty something instead. So here it is, a tinkly, softy, easy catchy ball for a 1 year old:
Made from my stash of quilting cottons, sorry about the quality of the photo, I have been drinking wine tonight, so may not be focusing properly :P . I may even be brave enough to go and load the other crappy pictures up to my Flikr - it's been a pig lately, just like my daughter. Who likes to scream very very loudly, about absolutely everything. Anyone want a bad tempered 2 year old? I've had a headache all day. Blah, the end.
See you tomorrow, probably.

First Day at 'Big School'
(Otherwise known as Reception) Oh happy, happy day, he's back at school and absolutely loved it! I'm totally exhausted from all the walking, but he was very excited to start this morning, and see all his pre-school friends again. God knows what they did today - have you tried to find out what they do? - I just get 'nothing much', until next week, when this week will suddenly be re-lived in full and glorious technicolour!

Bullfinch Nest
Retrieved from Teflon Boy before it got bashed into a compost bag, when he trimmed the palm tree in the front yard recently. It's been home for a bullfinch family, who fledged 3 babies this year. So lovely to hear them all chirping away at crack of dawn, and see them learning to fly, all whilst lying in bed!
For those who don't know, we own the bottom half of a big detached brick house (which luckily for us includes the whole garden too) and our bedroom is the old main front room from before the house was divided up. One day I will get around to drawing a suitable illustration, but for now, suffice it to say that the bedrooms are at the front of the house, and the living/dining/kitchen space is at the back, where the garden is - unusual, but you do get used to it!

Hey - I won!
Well - a first for me - I won a prize. Thanks to Amber at Kidscraftweekly, a lovely new book is on it's way to us because we won the monthly photo competition for May. What exciting news to wake up to - and now, the thrill of a book on gardening to look forward to: roots, boots, buckets & shoots
